QUICK TIP: Most foundation shades are yellow based, every other shade level, and the ones in between can be more pink undertone based. So, if you do need to go up or down a shade,  you need to skip one shade, as it will be a different undertone. Therefore, if you were a level 2, and needed to do darker, you wouldn’t want to go to a level 3- if you liked that undertone, you would choose a level 4.

However, to correct the misunderstanding, this is an eye brightener and best applied under the eye (before concealer), on the lid, above the eyebrow and just on the upper and outer part portion of the eye. This product contains light reflecting properties to conceal darkness, and helps draw your eye up, thus your face looks lifted! Purchase the Laura Gellar Wonder Wand for $19 here!

SHIMMER POWDER- Most feel they have to stay away from shimmer powders because they think it makes them look aged and much older. The RULE is that “Shimmer” can actually make you look youthful, but it’s needed to be placed in the correct areas. Shimmer is best applied on the upper part of the cheek in a “C- Shaped motion towards your eyebrow. I recommend Smashbox’s Soft Lights Powder and can be purchased here for $29.

WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO: It is a gentle warming mask that nourishes and boosts the skin with enzymes and minerals giving your skin brightness, good tone, texture and clarity. It, also, claims to prep the skin for the other Somme Institute products.

WHAT IT DOES:  It does make the skin look brighter, and it is very calming to the skin, makes the skin feel soft and supple and preps the skin for the other Somme Institute products.

MY MASK HISTORY:  I have used and loved the following soothing and brightening masks: Philosophy Micro-Delivering Brightening Peel, Forever 21 Cucumber Mask, Sisley Botanical Mask with Linden Blossom, Aveda Calming and Hydrating Mask, and Elemis Cream Nourishing Mask.

AFTER

MY RESULTS:  The best thing about the mask is that it warms up as you are putting it on and feels soothing and terrific, not to mention that it smells devine like cinnamon.  It did leave my skin looking brighter. It was very calming to apply and I can imagine if you suffer from acne or rosacea, it would help take down the redness. I am not sure if it felt any different, though, maybe a tad bit smoother. I think its a great mask for people that are looking for brightness and have sensitive skin. It is not a mask for deep cleansing, more brightening and soothing, and overall, down right relaxing and fun to apply. It reminds me of an old mask that Aveda used to carry that would warm up when applied. I would probably buy this mask again just for the fact that it feels great warming up on my skin!

WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO: First and foremost, DiorShow’s Maximizer describes this product as a lash plumper and primer! However, for me, I have never really found a lash primer that works. (Yes, I believe lash primers are REAL make up gimmicks.) Therefore, I thought this would be another wasted $28.

HOW IT WORKS: According to Dior, apply a thin layer over your lashes- BEFORE mascara. The nourishing ingredients, provide a coat to the lashes, thus applying mascara on top will make them look fuller and longer. It is the first “active serum” on the market containing soy protein providing stimulation, lash growth, and strength.

HOW I USE: You know what they say in any mascara review? It is all about the brush! This brush is pretty thin and sparce. It is a rubber type with not many bristles. The brush is the same to Cover Girl’s Lash Blast. I found it best to wiggle the want back and forth at the roots of my lashes and then sweep upward!

MY RESULTS:  I found this messy when applying this in the morning, before I put on my mascara. The formula made my lashes look even more sparce and messed up with my normal mascara routine and did not give my lashes fullness, or length. However, I discovered a little trick that makes this Lash Primer the BEST ON THE MARKET!!! I started applying it at night before I wet to bed as a treatment. The product works better- just as a lash growth serum- not a primer. By applying the formula every night before I went to bed, I saw results that my lashes were growing just like my Latisse did and my Lilash!

They should have marketed this as a lash growth serum and not a primer! I think it would have become way more popular, but I am glad I discovered this little gem because $28 is way more affordable that paying $100 for Latisse or Lilash.  Now, I can have more affordable va va voom lashes! I will continue using this product and purchase, again!

WHAT I LOVE: The shades are gorgeous! Great Price and easy to apply.

WOULD I BUY AGAIN?: While, yes, I would purchase this product again, but it is more of a wash of color on the eye. It is something I would use everyday or for the beach if I was wanting something quick and light. Watch the video to learn more about Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eye!

The 24 hour eye comes in about 10 different shades for $8 and can be purchased at your local drugstore, or online for a SALE price of $5 at www.drugstore.com.

However, when I saw there motto was “Transform Your Skin In 5 Minutes with 5 Vitamins.” It made me curious, so I took the plunge of giving up all my great skincare products for three weeks, that I currently use, to see what this new skincare line, called MDT5 ,would do to my skin.

IT CLAIMS TO: Get clear skin, Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Lighten brown Age Spots, Reverse Sun Damage, Eliminate moderate to Severe Acne and Rosacea, Dramatically improve skin’s tone texture and clarity.

WHAT I CURRENTLY USE: I have VERY, VERY dry and sensitive skin and it takes VERY special ingredients to keep my skin hydrated, especially since moving West. I have used in the pas,t pretty, pricy labels, as their key ingredients keep my skin hydrated. Some skincare products that I have used are: Kinerase, L’Oreal, Osmotics, Sisley, Chanel, DDF, Elemis, Clarins, Obagi, Arbonne, Mary Kay, Aveno, and Prevage. The ones that I have currently been using are: Aveno: Cleanser, Chanel: Serum, Prevage: Eye Cream, Sisley: Moisturizer.

WHAT I LOVED: I got the 5 step program, which was a Cleanser ($40), Toner/Exfoliator ($58), Serum ($82), Moisturizer ($70) and a SPF 30 Lotion ($48). Some of the things I liked about it was the cleanser is that it was very creamy and gentle, the serum was great at firming and tightening and made my skin look clear, younger and brighter. The moisturizer was nice, light and non greasy and you could smell the Vitamin E. I, also, loved the simplicity of the packaging!

EFFECT AND RESULTS: Overall, the products did make my skin more clear, but it did not hydrate me enough, as some of the other brands I have used. I am sure it is fabulous for oily skin or normal to sometimes dry skin, but after three weeks of using it, I had to start incorporating my rich moisturizer that I use because my skin was getting dry and was not as soft and supple, as before. I ,also, wished the exfoliating and toner pads were a little more exfoliating. They did not feel as active as I would have liked, as I prefer to have my skincare ingredients a little strong to help with cell turnover. The cleanser is great, but does not remove heavy make up very easily. It is great that the products do work with other skin care lines and it doesn’t make me break out and my skin is very sensitive.

I think this would be a fabulous product for someone who doesn’t have as dry skin as mine. However, I loved how nice, bright, clear and firm it made my skin look, so I started incorporating it into my old routine with my more hydrating moisturizer at night and it does the trick! So, not only can I have hydrated skin, but my skin looks so much brighter than before!
