What does makeup mean to you?
For most, it means to enhance our natural beauty or make us feel a little extra glamourous. However, one makeup artist, seriously just does it for art! She is known as a makeup artist for her eyes- literally! Makeup Artist, Katie Alves, uses makeup to paint Disney scenes on her OWN eyelids!!! Check out my interview with her and see how she gets her inspiration!
KA: Only since October 2010
MM:Was there an experience that drew you to become a makeup artist?
KA: It was Halloween. I was looking for something fun to do for it and just got the random idea to do a little scene on my lips!
MM: What do you like best about doing makeup?
KA:Probably how much of a challenge each design is. I love seeing how far I can push myself with my make-up!
MM: You are going to be doing tutorials on you tube, can you expand on that a little?
KA: I have one basic video up already but I’m getting a new camera thanks to Cliche Cosmetics. So hopefully it’ll be up soon!
MM: What was behind the motivation for coming up with such a unique makeup concept?
KA: Pretty much the same answer as the experience one.
MM: What would you like to be doing 5 years from now?
KA: I’d love to be able to work as a make-up artist, photographer and a graphic designer. All in one! A Triple Threat! haha
MM: Your passion really shines through in your art work, What can we expect from Katie Alves?
KA:Each design I try to push myself further and further. I hate half-assing something! So hopefully each design is better than the
last!
KA: Always push yourself! I seriously didn’t know I could do any of this stuff before I tried it. I was terrible at make-up before I found something that I could actually do!
MM: What do you do to feel beautiful and glamourous?
KA: Straighten my hair, put some beautiful make-up on, add some jewelery and some pretty clothes, usually a dress!
MM: What is your favorite beauty product?
KA: Covergirl eyeshadow! I love it! It’s always bright! I have all of my pictures up on deviant art, if they’re not high enough quality, just let me know and I can send you higher!katiealves.deviantart.com
Thanks, Katie! You are very inspiring and we hope to see more of you in the future! XOXO.
