PRIME UP…..and be confident for Green Eye Makeup!

As you walk your own runway this season and sport color on your eyes, its crucial that your first step starts with an even complexion- PRIMER. I have been getting a lot of questions regarding good primers and wanted to share the good ones I have found. Not only will your color selections have more impact, but primer is the basis for letting your inner makeup shine and help you feel confident when experimenting with fun eye colors!
If you have oily skin, I recommend Mattifying Primer from Becca Cosmetics ($38). Not only is it oil free, but it leaves a matte finish without feeling greasy, and helps minimize pores. It’s also, a great product to use in warmer months for normal skin if you tend to get more oily in the Summer. For a more affordable primer, I have heard that Monistat Chafing Gel can work. However, I dont have oily skin so I have never tried this out, nor am I sure if I would on any of my clients. Has anyone tried it? Does it actually work?
If you have normal to dry skin, like myself, I recommend Smashbox Primer. They make several different formulas. I use Photofinish, which is the clear one. It’s great for smoothing out your complexion and leaves a soft velvet finish. They even make a little travel size for $16. It’s the perfect size to try out!!! They also make great primers for discoloration of the skin. For redness, try out the green one, and to cover dark spots, I recommend the apricot color. The lavender one helps brighten the skin, if you suffer from dullness, or sallow skin.
Although, most are not drugstore brands, yesterday I dove into sampling the following drugstore brand primers to see if they work: Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer, L’Oreal Studio Secrets Face Primer, Maybelene’s Instant Age rewind Primer and Cover Girls Simply Ageless Serum Primer.
